How to Organize Travel Photos in Old World Map Albums

Quick answer

Sort photos by trip date, use the old world map cover as a visual theme, and place prints in chronological order with brief labels on the back.

Steps to organize travel photos in your old world map album

1. Sort photos by trip or date: Group prints from the same journey together, then order them chronologically within each group. This creates a natural story flow. Check that you don't mix photos from different trips on the same page – it confuses the timeline.
2. Label the back of each print: Use a soft pencil or archival pen to write the date, location, and a short note on the back. Avoid markers that can bleed through. Test the pen on a spare print first to ensure it doesn't smudge or stain the photo.
3. Arrange prints in the album: Place the first print of each trip on the left page and continue in sequence. Leave a few empty pages at the end for future trips. Don't overfill the album – the glue binding works best when pages aren't bulging.
4. Add optional dividers or notes: Insert a small index card between trips with the destination name and year. This helps you find specific memories without flipping through everything. Avoid using sticky tabs that could damage the paper over time.
